every channel that introduces shizumu to a stranger asks them to install it first. a download, a permission prompt, a folder on their machine. that is a large ask for an app whose whole argument is what thirty seconds of typing feels like.
so it runs in a browser tab now. open shizumu.app/try and start writing.
it is the real thing
what runs there is the same frontend the desktop app runs, with the rust database swapped for one that lives in your browser. the editor is the editor. the trails are real trails. what you write stays in the tab, reaches no account, and is still there when you come back to it tomorrow.
three things need a machine, so they stay with the installed app: sync, export, and adding files. ask for one in the demo and it says so plainly rather than pretending.
the part that is hard to describe
there is one claim in shizumu that never survives being written down.
you write on a page. you pin the lines worth keeping to a trail, which is a project rather than a day: a book, a job search, something you will come back to tomorrow. later, on a new empty page, you name that trail. what you pinned is already sitting there before you type anything.
written out, that is a sentence people nod at and forget. done with your own hands it takes two clicks, and it is the difference between filing things and having them come back to you.
so the demo opens on an empty page with the trail selector one click away.
why there is already writing in it
an empty demo teaches nothing. you land in one, look at a blank page, and leave knowing what you already knew.
so there is a book being written, a few letters, and a job search behind it. pages with headings, quotes, ticked and unticked tasks, the ordinary mess of something being worked on over a month. today’s page is the only empty one, the way it is every morning.
open memory and you can search across all of it, or read one trail from its first page to its last.
what to do first
write a line. put the page on the book trail. watch three pins you never wrote arrive underneath what you typed.
that is the product. the rest is detail you can find later.
